Jorge Sampaoli stops as Chilean coach after prolonged discontent.
Last week, he was honored as the world’s third best football coach in 2015 for his performance as head of Chile’s national team, but now Jorge Sampaoli, as a coach, is history.
The Chilean Football Federation (ANFP) announced that it has been agreed with the Argentine coach to end their cooperation, with immediate effect.
According to Reuters, the relationship between Sampaoli and his employer has been strained for a long time.
Details of the coach’s contract has been leaked to the public and it has led to accusations that Sampaoli have exploited gaps in the tax laws to avoid paying tax.
Last week, Sampaoli said that he no longer felt respected in Chile.
The 55-year-old Argentine was in charge of the neighboring country’s national team for almost four years, and his greatest moment as the coach of the Chilean national team came in 2015, when Chile won Copa América.
