Hosts Poland have secured the victory in Group A at the World Handball Championship. In addition, Macedonia, Norway and Croatia move into the main groups.
The Poles continue into the main groups of the Handball Championship following their match against the World and European Champions France on Tuesday evening (01.19.2016) in Krakow. They won with 31:25 (15:12) and thus they took four points. Also qualified, the French will start with two points in the group of six.
Coming third Macedonia is getting ahead perfectly. The final result was enough, a 27:27 (13:13) against Serbia, and they qualified on goal difference. Macedonia is the only team in the first round to qualify with only one point. They won’t take this point into the main group as in the two groups of six only the points which have been won against other qualified teams are counted.
In Group B Norway, Croatia and Belarus prevailed. Norway secured its qualification by a 29:27 (12:13) win against Belarus and takes four points with it. In Katowice, Croatia (two points) won against Iceland by 37:28 (19:10) and finished in the second place. Belarus comes third, thanks to the direct advantage; they will start the main round without any points.
